A Big Welcome!

Hello everyone,

Cheryl Dineen Ferrin

Cheryl Dineen Ferrin

Welcome to my new Blog, Interview 2. As the name suggests, we will be interviewing people involved in the art world as well as having some candid discussions ourselves.

To make this welcome even bigger, I’m opening my studio for a reception on Saturday, February 14, 2009 from 1p.m. to 4p.m. Let me know if you can drop by to see one of my latest artworks and share some tea and dessert. I’ll also be doing a little book signing for the volume I have most recently edited, Studio Art Quilt Associates Portfolio 15. The Portfolio is a full-color survey of current artworks by over 200 professional artist members of SAQA. Portfolio 14 sold out in just a couple months-get ‘em while they’re hot.

A lot has been happening lately. I had the good fortune to go to SOFA Chicago and the Greater Chicago Quilt Expo in November. SOFA, (Sculpture Objects Functional Art) is an amazingly inspirational place. While quite a bit of the focus is on art glass, we are seeing more textile art and fiber sculptures.

Greater Chicago Quilt Expo is more traditional in their focus but they provide a great opportunity to exhibit curated shows. I curated a group exhibit, Time and Memory, which was displayed during the Expo. I have not heard yet if Mancuso Show Management is going to offer GCQE this year. As of November, they had not booked the Renaissance Schaumburg again for the gig.

I have just come off a forced 2+ week vacation after carpal tunnel surgery. The surgery went well and I am finally back to it. (It is amazing to note just how much dust accumulates on the floor of my studio when I am not in here to move it around or vacuum it up.)
More later, and again, Welcome!
